Manchester United and PSV both confirmed that the clubs had agreed a deal to sign Depay earlier this month. However, there were various misleading reports about the transfer fee that was agreed, as the clubs didn’t disclose it officially.
BBC journalist David Ornstein claims that United will pay €34m up front and further €9m as bonuses, possibly depending on performances and other clauses.
Depay, the 21-year-old winger, played his final match for PSV Eindhoven on Sunday and although he didn’t get his name on the scoresheet, the highly rated Dutch winger grabbed an assist to his name and was instrumental in build up to the other goals.
The youngster also claimed the Eredivise golden boot award with 22 goals to his name this season. He becomes the youngest ever player to finish as Eredivisie top scorer since Brazilian striker Ronaldo in 1995.
