According to reports from Italian media outlet TMW, Mauro Icardi is finally set to sign a contract extension at Inter Milan till 2019. The latest developments come despite Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara who had dismissed suggestions that he was set to agree a deal with the San Siro side.
With everything in place now, Icardi will earn a salary of €3m per season thus squashing any such rumours which have linked him with a move to Chelsea. Earlier Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had sent a text to Icardi saying, “We will do great things together. Keep it up, I am following you.”
The 22 year old has been in stunning form season having scored 22 goals in 43 appearances this season will sign a new contract till 2019. Earlier Football Italia reported that the sticking point over image rights of the player has also been resolved.
With Didier Drogba set to leave Chelsea and Loic Remy’s future also unclear, the Blues would now have to look elsewhere to sign a striker of Icardi’s quality as Mourinho gets ready defend the Premier League title in the coming season.
