Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has agreed on a four-year deal to take over from Guus Hiddink at the end of the season.
The 48-year-old Juventus manager has done exceptionally well in Serie A and will join the Premier League champions next season.
It is understood that Roman Abramovich was keen on signing the Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, but the Spaniard has already agreed to join Manchester City.
Allegri won the Serie A with Juventus last season and guided them to the Champions League final. The Italian manager is keen to experience the Premier League and has agreed to join the Blues according to reports from Italy.
According to the report, the Premier League champions have moved swiftly to secure the services of the Juventus manager by offering him a four-year contract worth around £21.2m.
Allegri is likely to win the title with Juventus again this season and could be in demand at the end of the season. The likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester United are already looking to appoint new managers in the summer.
It seems Chelsea are keen to avoid the competition and have tied up the deal quickly.
A poor start to the season led the sacking of Jose Mourinho and the Blues were linked with the Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone as well since December.
Time will tell if there is any truth to these reports, but there is no doubt that Allegri is an accomplished manager who has proven his pedigree in Europe.
However, the Italian will have quite a challenge rebuilding this Chelsea squad. The Blues are in need of reinforcements and with the likes of Hazard and Costa linked with moves away from the club, it seems that Allegri might have to build his squad from scratch if and when he takes over.
