Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal upon taking officially taking charge of the club gave his first press conference yesterday. The Dutchman stressed upon implanting his own philosophy, while has vowed to take the club back to the top.
Van Gaal has made it clear that he will take time to assess the squad before delving into the transfer market, but one can understand, the summer spending spree won’t stop after buying Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw only.
However, the new manager was met with a bad news at the same time. England midfielder Michael Carrick has suffered an ankle injury that will rule him out for at least couple of months.
Catalan newspaper Sport has covered the whole Louis van Gaal’s press conference story where in a separate small column they mention Manchester United are showing a serious interest in buying Holland midfielder Nigel di Jong and could make a shock €10m bid for his signature.
The 29-year-old midfielder has become the latest Dutch player to have been linked with Manchester United. He has a contract till 2015 and could be persuaded to join Old Trafford in the summer. He has played in England before with Manchester City but most importantly could be the type of player probably Van Gaal wants at his new club.
