According to reports from English Media Outlet Mirror, Manchester United are lining up a summer move for Argentine star Lucas Biglia. The report states that United were interested in the 29 year old midfielder in January but the Italian club refused any sort of deal.
Biglia who is vastly experienced and has an immense work rate would be an early summer target for Louis Van Gaal and would cost just £8m. The midfielder who won four Belgian league titles and four Super Cups during his time with Anderlecht can play the anchor role and also act as a screen in front of the back four. He had a good World Cup last year and has so far made 17 appearances this season for Lazio.
In other news, John Cross writes in his columns in Mirror stating that Michael Carrick is in line for a 12 month contract extension for the Red Devils. It is believed that the 33 year old wants to prolong his career at Old Trafford and Van Gaal is also keen to keep him at the club.
The English International is currently on £130,000-a-week and is likely to be offered a one year extension with a further 12 month option. Carrick has been a mainstay at United over the past decade having made over 350 appearances and winning five Premier League titles.
In other news, United would be boosted in their pursuit of Barcelona star Dani Alves as the player’s agent Deborah Santana has claimed that his client is sad at the Catalan club. It is believed that the 31 year old’s time at the Spanish club is coming to an end and there have been little talks over a possible extension.
Alves had recently taken to Instagram to say, “If I have to leave, I do so with bravely, with a beautiful smile and happiness in my heart. No matter what happens; I tried to be happy, not perfect.”
It’s time for United to pounce on the Brazilian.
