Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is lining up a stunning £65m bid for Chelsea winger Eden Hazard.
According to reports in the English media, Manchester United have been told that they have no chance of landing Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale and, therefore, they are prepared to raid Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The Belgian winger has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this season.
United are set to fight it out with Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich for the Belgium international.
The Premier League player of the year from last season has had a season to forget so far and is determined to leave England.
Daily Star have reported that Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been ordered to try and bring Hazard to Old Trafford and will offer the player a bumper payrise.
However, Manchester United will have to qualify for Champions league football in order to stand a chance of landing Hazard. The Belgian winger wants to perform at the highest level and is unlikely to join a club that is not playing in the Champions League.
Hazard has won the Premier League with Chelsea last season and is their best player. It will be a massive blow for the Blues if he were to sign for the Premier League rivals next season.
However, a deal for a key player (Juan Mata) has been agreed between the two clubs before so nothing can be ruled out at the moment.
