According to reports from ESPN, Borussia Dortmund are now willing to hear offers from potential suitors for German defender Mats Hummels in the upcoming summer transfer window. The recent developments will thus come as a huge boost for Manchester United who have been linked with the 26 year old since last summer.
There is no doubt that United manager Louis Van Gaal will go shopping for a centre back in the summer to strengthen his fragile back four. Hummels would be a terrific addition for the Old Trafford side who are desperate to clinch a Champions League berth for next season.
The Red Devils are also expected to spend heavily in the summer aiming for a title tilt for the next season. Thus any transfer price will be within reach for United despite Hummels having two years remaining in his current contract for the Signal Iduna Park side.
Dortmund had endured a shambolic start to the Bundesliga this season but Jurgen Klopp’s side have managed to turn things around in the past few weeks and are currently tenth in the standings. Dortmund are expected to fight for the Champions League berth in the remaining games of the season and no matter where they finish, the German side will look to cash in on Hummels in the transfer window.
