According to reports in the trusted and reliable TMW website from Italy, Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero is certain for a move away from the club in the upcoming January transfer window. The Argentine has been a target for Liverpool; the Reds who are desperate to replace the error prone Simon Mignolet under the sticks.
Despite a terrific World Cup for Argentina, Romero has hardly featured for Sampdoria this season. In fact the custodian’s agent Mino Raiola has a good connection with Liverpool having engineered a summer move for his client Mario Balotelli earlier in the summer. A couple of days ago we had reported that Manchester City are also interested in Romero, but the Citizens’ interest looks manufactured rather than a real desire.
Manchester United were also linked with Romero in the summer but those rumours died out after allowing former Barcelona star Victor Valdes to train with them at Carrington. Does this mean that Liverpool will make a move for Romero in January? The Reds have a decision to make given that they are also linked with Fiorentina’s Brazilian shot stopper Neto and Genoa number one Mattia Perin.
