According to reports in Italian Media outlet Calciomercato, Manchester United have made contacts with AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong for a summer transfer. The Dutchman’s contract with the Italian side is set to expire in the summer and the report claims that De Jong has decided not to renew his contract with the Rossoneri.
Moreover, the player has also rejected a chance to move back to his former club Ajax. Milan have thus already lineup a replacement for De Jong and are looking at Napoli’s Jorginho. Moreover, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani is also thinking not to push De Jong to sign a new deal and let him go in the summer. De Jong would thus jump at the chance to reunite with Louis Van Gaal under whom he had featured in the World Cup last year.
Moreover, the player has enough Premier League experience having earlier featured for Manchester City. The deal would be a good move for United who can thus sign De Jong on a free in the coming summer. The midfielder who is a hard tackler, is effective in breaking the opposition attacks by sitting just in front of the back four also has the passing range to build from the back.
