Manchester United reportedly made a late attempt to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi during the January transfer window, but their offer was rejected outright.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United had offered €30m for the Argentine striker last month, but Inter felt it was way short of their €40m valuation.
The 22-year-old was the joint top scorer in Serie A last season with 22 goals, but has struggled to make an impact for the Nerazzurri this term, managing only 10 in 21 games so far.
According to Manchester Evening News, United are expected to return with a better offer for Icardi in the summer.
CdS also adds that Premier League giants Chelsea and Liverpool are equally interested for his signature, and they might join the race for the Inter striker too in the summer.
Icardi has a contract with Inter till 2019. The Serie A giants want to keep hold of their skipper for long years to come, but they would still be open to do a business should they receive a tempting offer from the heavyweight Premier League clubs.
