Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal in principle with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. Is it really happening, then?
Pogba left Manchester United to Juventus for free in 2012 after failing to cement a regular starting place in the starting XI under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The French midfielder has since become one of the best central midfielders in the world and has played a key role for France in Euro 2016. France have made it to the finals after beating Germany 2-0 on Thursday and Pogba has a chance to win a European trophy with his country should Les Blues win against Portugal on Sunday.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United are preparing a mammoth €120m bid for the Frenchman and are preparing to pay their former player €13 million (£11.1 million) per year to return to Old Trafford.
Di Marzio also notes Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, will present the offer to Juventus after the end of the tournament.
Manchester United have already made three signings this summer, adding centre-back Eric Bailly, attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and it seems Pogba could be their fourth major coup.
Pogba is a genuine box-to-box midfielder who is already playing at a top level despite being some way short of his peak years. Real Madrid are reportedly vying for his signature as well and there could be a bidding war with Manchester United, should the European champions make Pogba as their priority signing.
