Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney has spoken out about Raheem Sterling’s move to Manchester City.
The England captain stated that the winger looks happy and settled after leaving Anfield this summer. The former QPR academy graduate joined City in a 44 million pound deal this summer and looks relaxed and settled according to Rooney.
Wayne Rooney explained that the situation was difficult for Sterling and now that his future is resolved he looks focused, which is a big bonus for England.
“You can see he’s settled. He’s happy, I’m sure.
“He’s got the move he wanted. He’s started the season excellently, settled in really well at City.
“When you are going through what he did, trying to leave Liverpool, it can be quite difficult. But he’s a lot more relaxed and settled, which is good for us.”
Sterling turned down a contract extension at Liverpool and forced a move away from Merseyside.
Although there are question marks over the player’s decision to leave the club, it is believed that Liverpool refused to meet his wage demands.
Sterling, however rubbished those claims in an exclusive interview with the BBC, where he denied being a “money grabber”.
Wayne Rooney’s comments that Sterling is happy after leaving Liverpool might not go down well amongst the Reds fans, but the club and the player has quite clearly moved on and the fans will need to follow suit.
