Louis Van Gaal: Manchester United is my last job

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Telegraph, Louis Van Gaal has claimed that Manchester United will be his last job in his illustrious managerial career and that he wants to go out on the top.

The Dutch legend is one of the greatest thinkers of the game has had success earlier at Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and even guiding Netherlands to the World Cup semi final in Brazil last year is now given the charge to revive Manchester United post the Sir Alex Ferguson era at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal said, “I am old. This is my last job. For sure. I have to pay attention to my kids, my grandchildren but also to my wife. They deserve it. Now I cannot pay that attention. I was not at the birthday of my grandson, for example. I don’t like it.”

The 63 year old also revealed that he was a Tottenham fan while he was young and now he plans to retire to Portugal with wife Truus and play golf and eat fantastic food.

Van Gaal though has come under criticism after his team has not been able to hit greater heights despite spending having spent a whopping £150m on players in the summer transfer window. However as last Sunday’s 3-0 win over Tottenham showed, United are slowly but surely getting into the groove.

Van Gaal added, “When I drive my car for the first time in England, it is the same… I have to think about the left and the right. That we have seen with United. Against Spurs you have seen that. That shows they can do things together as a team. That takes time.”

United are currently fourth in the Premier League standings and face a crucial trip at Anfield to take on Liverpool on Sunday, a game which could be pivotal in their Champions League aspirations for next season.
