Liverpool are considering making a move for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen in the summer, but the Reds are likely to face strong competition from German side Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 19-year-old defender is currently plying his trade in Germany with Gladbach on loan from Chelsea. The Bundesliga outfit are keen to sign him permanently in the summer.
However, according to the Mirror, Liverpool have emerged as a shock contender for his signature. The Reds are reportedly “eyeing a deal” for the youngster, as Jurgen Klopp wants to add more talented young players to his squad.
Chelsea however could recall Christensen to Stamford Bridge early from his loan spell after the long-term injury to Kurt Zouma. The player, however, has admitted recently that he won’t return to Chelsea unless he is guaranteed regular first team football.
Meanwhile, Liverpool fans can expect major changes to their squad next season, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly looking to overhaul the squad after being promised sufficient funds to make ambitious signings in the summer transfer window.
Klopp has found difficult to achieve his target at Liverpool since taking over, and the German needs to bring in players of his choice to shape the squad in his own image.
The Reds have reached the Capital One Cup final but they have struggled badly in the league, sitting ninth in the Premier League. They were also recently knocked out of the FA Cup by West Ham.
