It looks like Liverpool are eyeing an unlikely source to rejuvenate their title credentials next season. The Reds have slipped to the bottom half of the Premier League this season after their 2nd placed finish last year.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Brendan Rodgers is exploring the option of bringing Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan to Anfield next summer. The Belgian has shot into the limelight with some consistently good performances for the Serie A side this campaign, and is being courted by Liverpool.
The Reds are reportedly willing to shell out around €15 million for Nainggolan, who joined the side in the Italian capital only this summer from Cagliari for €9 million. . He was initially loaned to Roma in January, but after impressing, was signed by the Giallorossi on a permanent deal. Liverpool are also willing to give him an upgrade on his wages, which are currently €1.4 million per year
Nainggolan is not a regular with his national side yet, but has made 8 appearances so far for Belgium, scoring 2 goals.
Liverpool need a goalscoring midfielder to replace Steven Gerrard, who at 34, is a shadow of his former self and only has another couple of seasons left in him at the maximum.
