Heading into the final nine games in the Premier League, Liverpool ahead of their titanic Premier League clash with Manchester United, have received a major boost after Lucas Leiva was passed fit to return to full training.
Lucas suffered a thigh injury in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in early February and hasn’t played since.
Six weeks on, with the Reds knocking the corridors of Champions League, Lucas is ready to play yet another major part in Liverpool’s aspirations of finishing the season on a high.
James Pearce of The Liverpool Echo notes that Rodgers will decide over the coming days whether Lucas will be involved in Sunday’s clash with Manchester United.
Well the inclusion of Lucas means Rodgers now have all his central midfielders back fully fit, which could give him a selection headache. Then again, it’s a good headache to have for any good manager.
Lucas prior to his injury played a key role in Liverpool’s resurgence, however, Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson collectively had covered his void nicely.
