Liverpool are leading the race to sign PSG’s young left back Lucas Digne in the summer, according to reports from France Football.
The 21-year-old has been targeted by Serie A giants Roma, as Rudi Garcia, his former coach at Lille, wants to take him to Italy. La Liga giants Valencia have also approached with an offer.
However, it’s Liverpool who is keen to secure his signature. They are now in pole position to sign the defender, who would cost around €12m. Digne has a contract till 2018, where he earns around €3m per year.
Diane started his senior career with Lille after graduating from the club’s youth academy. He joined PSG in 2013 and has made 29 league appearances for the French side. He made his international debut last year and has made eight appearances so France national team so far.
Liverpool signed Alberto Moreno last summer from Sevilla but the Reds still need to add another good player in that position. Jose Enrique hasn’t played much through injury last season and the Spaniard faces an uncertain future at Anfield.
Digne is a highly promising talent who should provide strong competition for Moreno in the side. He is an assured defender who is good at distribution. Still very young and raw, he has all the potentials to develop into a fine player.
