According to Belgian media, Manchester City are prepared to smash the British transfer record in order to land Kevin De Bruyne.

The Wolfsburg midfielder has been linked with a move back to the Premier League all summer and it seems that City are keen to push through a deal for the former Chelsea player.

The Premier League runners up are ready to offer 84 million euros and a 6 year contract worth €20m/yr which will see De Bruyne become the highest paid player in the world alongside Messi.

De Bruyne endured a failed first spell in the Premier League, however that was more down to the lack of chances. City are prepared to offer the Belgian another chance to make it in the Premier League and will eclipse the fee paid for Angel Di Maria to get their man.

Recently, Christian Benteke became the most expensive Belgian of all time after his €46m move to Liverpool and now it seems De Bruyne is set to steal the crown.

Wolfsburg are reluctant to let go of De Bruyne, but the club have suggested that if a ridiculous offer comes in, they will consider a sale.

It is believed that Manchester City are in pole position for the attacking midfielder and will open negotiations with the German outfit soon. Having signed Raheem Sterling for 49 million pounds earlier this month, City are now keen to push ahead for De Bruyne.

With the relaxation of the FFP rules, it seems that there is no stopping the likes of PSG, Manchester United and Manchester City this summer, all of whom are pushing ahead with mega money bids for their desired transfer targets.
