AC Milan CEO, Adriano Galliani, has revealed that talks with Real Madrid over the transfer of Kaka have broken down due to the ‘fiscal situation’.
It was meant to be the most fairy-tale transfer of this season – the return of the prodigal son; but it wasn’t to be. For the past few seasons Galliani has promised them big things in the transfer market, but the Italian side have recently ended up losing more key players than buying them.
Kaka’s return to Milan seemed like a deal that would suit all parties involved in it. For Kaka it would have provided him a chance to resurrect his career and start afresh at a club where once he became one of the best footballers in the world.
It would have also provided the Milan squad with a much-needed fillip as they look to gain Champions League qualification. For Madrid it would have cleared up some space for new signings in January or in the summer.
But according to Galliani – the deal is off. The AC Milan Vice-President has revealed that talks between both the clubs have broken down and it seems unlikely that the Brazil international would move back to San Siro this season.
Galliani was quoted in press:
“The negotiation has failed. We have given up due to the fiscal situation.
“Kaka made every possible effort but everything has failed due to the fiscal situation that convinced Real to stop the negotiations.
“At this point, I think we will remain as we are.”
Initially, Kaka’s high wages was a stumbling block in this deal, but the 30-year-old was prepared to take a pay-cut in order to return to his beloved club. But recent reports suggest that Milan were prepared to take him on loan, while Madrid were only interested in a permanent deal.
Galliani has also ruled out the possibility of Milan signing David Beckham or Mario Balotelli in January, confirming that “none of them” are on their way to San Siro.
