Chelsea have surely been the standout team of the Premier League this season and have already displayed form worthy of being called ‘Early Season Champions’. The question however remains whether the Blues will strengthen in January? Yesterday a report from Ghana Soccer Net claimed that Jose Mourinho’s side are inked with a January move for Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah.
Football Italia have also reported the story claiming that English Tabloid METRO have said that Chelsea are prepared to pay £24m for the Ghana International. However, the news looks far-fetched and it would be of remarkable surprise if Asamoah leaves Turin in January.
The player has been ruled out for four months by a knee injury, thus there is no doubt that Mourinho will be looking to take chances, that too for £24m for a player who lacks match fitness. Asamoah however is an immensely versatile player capable of playing in midfield as well as a wingback under former Old Lady manager Antonio Conte.
Chelsea could strengthen in January but there is very little chance that Asamoah will make the switch to Stamford Bridge, that too for the quoted price. The story in itself looks to be blown out of proportions.
