Liverpool ended their catastrophic season with a 6-1 defeat away to Stoke City this afternoon.
Missing out on the Champions League and the failure of the new signings had already put Brendan Rodgers under immense pressure with regards to the end of season review. However, the Stoke result means there might not be a way back for the former Swansea manager.
This season has shown nothing to suggest a bright future under Rodgers and according to the media and bookies, FSG will look for a different direction this summer.
Having spent more than a 100 million pounds, Brendan Rodgers was expected to finish in the Champions League places. Instead, their poor end to the season and the dismal start means they will end the season 6th in the table, behind Manchester United and Tottenham, who occupy 4th and 5th.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp ended his outstanding spell in charge of the German club yesterday with a win against Werder Bremen and has been linked with several clubs across Europe.
However, according to the bookies, the German could well be the man to replace Rodgers at Anfield. The charismatic coach is 5/4 to take charge at Anfield.
Former manager Rafa Benitez has also been tipped with a return, but it is believed that the Napoli manager will instead join Real Madrid.
It is quite clear that the Merseyside outfit are in need of changes ahead of next season. With the impending departure of Raheem Sterling, it might be another tough summer for Liverpool fans.
