Chelsea have not only struggled to defend, the Blues have had a hard time in front of the goal as well. With their first choice striker, Diego Costa struggling hit peak form just yet, Mourinho is considering other alternatives in the market.
According to reports in Spain, Jose Mourinho has identified the 24 year old Lyon striker, Alexandre Lacazette as an ideal addition in January.
It is reported that the Premier League champions were keen to sign him during the summer, but were told that he is not for sale. Lacazette is one of the best young forwards around and has scored 53 goals in his last two seasons at Lyon.
It is believed that Chelsea have already held talks with his representatives and are now looking to make a move after Christmas.
Mourinho is willing to splash the quoted £25m on the French international, who he believes can be the perfect foil for Diego Costa. Lacazette is a versatile attacker who can play in a number of formations.
Furthermore, his ability to create chances for himself is an added bonus, especially with the likes of Hazard struggling so far.
Although Chelsea have Falcao as a backup to Costa, Mourinho is apparently keen to sign an established forward as he plans to get back into the mix for the title race.
