Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the Blues goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer will join Leicester City this month on a permanent transfer.
The 42-year-old joined the Stamford Bridge outfit on a free transfer from Fulham in 2013. Since joining the West London club, the Australian has seen his first team appearances being limited in his debut season.
Petr Cech was the first choice keeper for the Portuguese tactician and now the Czech Republican is forced to sit on the bench, since Thibaut Courtois has returned from his loan spell from Atletico Madrid.
The return of the Belgium international has seen Schwarzer drop further down the pecking order and Chelsea are now set to allow him to join the Foxes in the January transfer window.
“We have lost a big man, we’ve lost Schwarzer. We miss him and we wish him all the best,” Mourinho said, as reported by Talksport.
“He is a fantastic goalkeeper for us but this season the situation has changed. He has become the third [choice goalkeeper] which is a very difficult situation for a goalkeeper of his dimension.”
“We will miss a fantastic guy and we wish him all the best at Leicester,” the former Real Madrid manager concluded.
