Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is happy with the options at his disposal and will move ahead with them if the club fails to sign John Stones from Everton.
Stones has been linked with a move to Chelsea all summer, but Everton are determined to hold on to their prized asset. Roberto Martinez has claimed that there are things money cannot buy and Stones is one of them.
The Merseyside club are so determined, they have rejected four bids from the Premier League champions. The last one is believed to be closer to the 40 million pound mark.
Jose Mourinho has claimed that he is not interested in discussing signings and is rather focused on the players he has right now.
“I don’t speak about players from other teams,” Mourinho said.
“I have a good squad, I’m happy with the squad I have.
“If I get another player in before the end of the market that’s good.
“If we don’t then we go with what we have. We have a good squad.”
Chelsea are in desperate need of defensive additions. With John Terry picking up a red card and the poor form of Branislav Ivanovic, Chelsea look fragile at the back.
The Premier league champions have started their title defense poorly and have shipped out truckload of goals so far. Mourinho has identified Stones as the long term replacement for club legend, John Terry.
Earlier this week, the Everton defender handed in a transfer request, which was rejected immediately.
It appears that Everton will not crack under the pressure from the player and his suitors. Stones is believed to be frustrated with the long and drawn out saga and is keen to leave Merseyside this summer.
