New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been dealt a massive injury blow after it was confirmed that centre back Joe Gomez has picked a ligament injury.

Scans have shown that there is considerable damage to the player’s cruciate ligament and according to Express, he could be out for 6-9 months.

The young defender arrived from Charlton this summer and started three of Liverpool’s opening games. The England U21 international has been one of the few bright sparks from Brendan Rodgers’ reign this season.

Gomez limped off with an injury against Kazakhstan in the midweek. The Liverpool defender was replaced by Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.

Klopp is now left with no back up right backs as Gomez joins Flanagan on the sidelines.

Liverpool have been extremely poor defensively and the lack is depth now is a real concern for Klopp. It seems the German will have to dip into the transfer market to secure some defensive depth in January.

Liverpool are plagued with injury at the moment with the likes of Benteke, Firmino, Henderson, Flanagan, Gomez all sidelined.

It will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp copes with this crisis especially if one of Moreno or Clyne get injured before January.

Despite the air of positivity around the club at the moment, Jurgen Klopp has got quite the challenge in front of him.
