Ghana midfielder Bernand Mensah has been watched by Manchester United scouts in the past few months and reports suggest they are highly impressed with the 20-year-old midfielder.
We reported last week that United were showing a strong interest in the player, who plays for Portugal club Victoria Guimaraes.
The 20-year-old joined the club from Feyenoord Ghana in 2012 and helped his club gain promotion last season where he scored nine goals.
Portugal newspaper A Bola (newspaper edition) has published a story today where they claim Manchester United are currently negotiating a deal with the player’s agent.
The player said: “It’s true that United want to sign me. I haven’t talked to anyone from United, but I know from my agent that they are currently negotiating with my club. Right now, I’m focused on Vitória though.”
The player is represented by Jorge Mendes, with whom United United hold a good relationship.
Mendes owns 35% of the player’s economic rights while the rest is owned by the club. Mendes had even promised to manage a 10m deal for the promising youngster.
