Manchester United summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that he has set his sights on winning the Premier League title with the Red Devils in the 2016-17 season.

The 27-year-old was the third player to move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, after defender Eric Bailly and Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He joined United from German outfit Borussia Dortmund and was one of the star players in the Bundesliga last term.

Mkhitaryan is aware of the competition in the Premier League and admitted that he will give his best to help his new club to win silverware.

“It’s a very good opportunity to play for Manchester after Borussia – Manchester is one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Mkhitaryan explained, as quoted by the Mirror.

“I am very happy to be here and I am very happy to play for this team.

“I will try to do my best to help the team win the games and for the new season we are going to try to do everything to win titles. Of course it will be difficult but let’s hope to have good preparation and then we will see.”

United landed in China for the pre-season tour and Mkhitaryan is part of the 25-man squad that has made the trip. He is joined by club captain Wayne Rooney in the first training session in China.

Jose Mourinho took charge at United following the exit of Louis van Gaal in May.  The England international also remains hopeful the former Chelsea manager can help the 20-time English champions to win the title this term.

“I’ve only had one day [training with Mourinho] since we came out, but it was a very good day, the training session,” Rooney explained.

“But I think you only have to look at the teams he’s had before and the success he’s had with them, and we’re hoping he can bring that to us.

“I’m excited. It’s a big season for us. The appointment of Jose Mourinho is a big appointment and we’re all excited. We’ve made some fantastic signings too. Hopefully we can have a good start to the season and be successful by the end of it.”
