The task of rebuilding the Tottenham Hotspur squad won’t be easy for Nuno Espirito Santo, even if Fabio Paratici is there to help him out, especially with the club operating on a tight budget.
With Nuno’s arrival, Spurs have also opened the door for super-agent Jorge Mendes to bring his clients to the north London club.
Mendes appears to be playing a key role in placing Goncalo Guedes with Tottenham this summer.
According to Super Deporte, Mendes is doing everything he can to take Guedes away from Valencia to Tottenham.
Guedes joined Valencia from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth €40 million (£34m) in 2018, after spending the previous campaign on loan at Los Che.
He has scored 23 goals in 136 games for the club. Last season he scored five goals and provided five assists in 31 La Liga games for Valencia.
Guedes would be a cracking signing for Spurs. The Portuguese, who is an attractive player with his fantastic dribbling skills, is known for his ability to pick passes.
The best thing about his game is that he is versatile. The 24-year-old can play in all three attacking midfield positions and also as a striker.
With Spurs needing to find a replacement for Gareth Bale, and Erik Lamela facing an uncertain future, Guedes would be a cracking signing for the club.
The Portugal international is at the right age to take his career to the next level in the Premier League, and Spurs can provide him with the platform he needs to flourish.
He is a top-quality player, one who can make a big impact at the north London club, and it seems Mendes is pulling the strings to make the deal happen.
