A few days ago we had reported that Liverpool had a scout to watch Lazio attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson last week. The capital club who are in superb form are just a point behind second placed Roma in the Serie A standings.
Anderson has been a key figure for Lazio having scored 9 goals and grabbing 6 assists in 24 appearances this season. Naturally a host of Premier League giants have been linked with the high flying Brazilian. It is believed that apart from Chelsea, both the Manchester sides are also keeping tabs on the player’s situation.
However reports from Italian media outlet Calciomercato have now claimed that Anderson is set to sign a new contract with Lazio till 2019.
The Daily Express have reported that Lazio have offered the player a bumper deal worth £1.25m a year. It is now more or less expected that the 21-year-old will stay with the Italian side and snub a move to England.
It was believed that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was keen to link Anderson up with country-man Phillipe Coutinho in the heart of midfield but the recent developments now mean that he will have to look elsewhere to get a player of Anderson’s potential.
