Chelsea winger Eden hazard reportedly fancies a move to Real Madrid. And likewise, Real Madrid are interested in signing the Belgium international.
And more often than not, when Madrid set their eyes on someone, they usually sign that player.
At the same time Hazard has become one of Chelsea’s key players, and the Blues are simply not going to sell him for cheap.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Chelsea may demand a world record transfer fee for the Belgium international.
The Spanish giants have started the groundwork towards a mega-money move, likely to be next summer, for the Belgium international.
But concerns are growing at the Bernabeu that they will have to surpass the £85million fee they paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale in 2013 to prise Hazard away from Stamford Bridge.
Sami Mokbel writes that bringing Hazard to Bernabeu is one of Madrid’s prime agenda next summer, and work behind the scenes is already underway.
Chelsea paid a massive £32m for Hazard when they signed him from Lille and the club will not let him go without a fight. The Blues would demand a fee more than £85m, the amount Real Madrid paid to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham, before even considering letting him leave.
Furthermore, Hazard has signed a five-year-contract earlier this year which leaves Chelsea in a strong position.
Speculations are rife in the media that Hazard’s relationship with Mourinho has strained, and he would make his intentions clear to join Madrid, if there is a formal interest from the La Liga club.
While Hazard has reiterated time and again he is happy at Chelsea, the lure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world could be too much to resist.
Chelsea have made a wretched start to the season, sitting uncomfortably 15th in the table, and the top four finish looks far from a foregone conclusion. Should they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, Chelsea may struggle to keep hold of their star winger next summer.
