Didier Drogba has paid Paris Saint Germain star Zlatan Ibrahimovic a compliment by insisting he possesses similar attributes, especially with his aggressiveness on the pitch.
The Swedish striker has been accused of being selfish during his illustrious career that has seen him represent some of the biggest names in European football, including Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan.
But Drogba, speaking ahead of his side’s Champions League last 16 clash with PSG tomorrow night, thinks the mercurial forward has improved with maturity and will be a real threat for the West Londoners.
“Ibrahimovic is a player who has changed a lot,” Drogba told Canal Football Club, as quoted by Goal.com.
“He has come to understand that he will have to play for the team in order to help them forward. I like his style of play and aggressiveness a lot. We are similar in a lot of areas.”
Chelsea knocked out PSG in last season’s competition despite being just minutes away from elimination and are expecting another tough test as Jose Mourinho seeks to win Europe’s elite prize for the first time with the Blues.
Drogba does not think PSG are out for revenge, though: “I do not agree with those who claim Paris Saint-Germain are wounded. Absolutely not. They are preparing themselves for this Champions League tie and they will be ready for it.”
