Real Madrid have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Inter Milan for the transfer of Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian international is valued to be around £22.5m and the Metro reports Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was keen on signing him in the ongoing summer transfer window.  However, the midfielder has snubbed a chance to make a switch to England in order to join Real.

Kovacic will sign a six year deal with the La Liga giants and will be presented on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Inter Milan have agreed to the transfer of Mateo Kovačić, he will remain at the club for the next six seasons,” a statement read on Real’s official website.

“The player will be presented tomorrow, Wednessay 19 August at 1pm, in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu, after undergoing a medical.

“Afterwards, Mateo Kovačić will step out onto the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu for the first time wearing the Real Madrid shirt and talk to the media in the press room.”
