Belgian attacking midfielder, Dennis Praet is quickly turning heads across Europe with his performances for Anderlecht in the league as well as the Champions League.
Praet’ virtuoso display against Arsenal raised questions as to whether the 20 year old is finally ready to take the next step in his career and move to a bigger club.
Earlier, clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have been linked with the Belgian prodigy with rumours surfacing recently that the German outfit are looking to replace their talisman Marco Reus with the Anderlecht youngster.
Former Anderlecht manager, Aad De Mos stated that Praet is ready for the next level and could succeed Reus at Dortmund.
“Praet is the number 10 that every club is looking for”, he said.
De Mos also outlined how Praet’ performance against Arsenal reminded him of a young Marco Reus. Regardless of how unfair the comparisons with Reus sounded, De Mos states that, “Praet is an exceptional talent with enormous potential”.
Praet has a contract at Anderlecht until 2017, but with European heavyweights like Dortmund, Napoli, Juventus, Inter and Dortmund circling, De Mos accepts that it will be tough to keep him at Anderlecht, especially if an offer of £10-20 million were to arrive.
De Mos further stated that Praet should look to continue his development at Anderlecht and aim to make the Belgium squad for Euro 2016.
Praet also reflected on his trial at Arsenal four years ago which further fuelled speculations with the North London outfit. Following recent criticism of Arsenal’ high profile attacking midfielder, Mesut Ozil, the club are actively seeking for reinforcements and Praet seems like one of the names on Wenger’s shortlist.
