Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return to Old Trafford next month for the second time since he left Manchester United in 2009.

A friendly match between Portugal and Argentina has been scheduled for November 18, and provided Ronaldo doesn’t get injured around that time, he is likely to play in front of the Old Trafford fans again.

Manchester United are yet to officially confirm the fixture, but Independent reports that United are seeking to boost their profile in Argentina.

Old Trafford fans will also get to see Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (provided he takes part) in action, but it is the return of Ronaldo that will excite the fans most.

Ronaldo has been linked with a shock return to Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal recently revealing he would be interested in a deal, however, United would have to pay an astronomical fee to get him back.

Since leaving Manchester United, the Real Madrid superstar has only returned once to Old Trafford, in a Champions League tie in March 2013. Should he take part in the friendly, United fans will get another chance to show how much they want him to return back to the club, which they call it his ‘home’.
