Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed Manchester United defender Rafael has arrived for a medical before his proposed switch to the French club.
The Brazilian right-back has seen his first team appearances being and has struggled to break into the first team last season. Louis van Gaal fielded Antonio Valencia in that position, while Paddy McNair has also featured in the full-back position.
United signed Italy international Matteo Darmina from Torini earlier in the summer transfer window. His arrival has seen Rafael drop further down the pecking order and it will be difficult for him get regular playing time under the Dutchman.
The South America defender has been told he has no future at Old Trafford and the player is closing in on completing a move away from the Premier League giants. Aulas confirmed the player has arrived at Lyon and an agreement is yet to be reached for the transfer of the player.
“@ OL @ vincentduluc Rafael arrived we expect Manchester U 1 UM transfer agreement: it is cheerful Brazilian!” Aulas tweeted.
