Guus Hiddink has got what he wanted. The Dutchman wanted to sign a striker in the January transfer window, and his wish has been granted.
Alexandre Pato, the former AC Milan striker, has already arrived in London and he is set to join Chelsea within the next few days.
Pato may not be the only striker arriving at Chelsea in January. According to reports from The Mirror, the Blues are still interested in signing Leicester City’s in-form striker Jamie Vardy before the transfer deadline day on Monday.
Leicester do not have any intention of selling their £30m-rated striker though as they look to pursue their shock title bid.
The Foxes have shown an interest in Chelsea striker Loic Remy, and have already made a £7.6m bid for the France international forward.
Chelsea are looking to use Remy as a makeweight in the deal to try to land the England striker, who has scored 16 goals in 23 games for the Foxes.
Vardy created a new Premier League record this season when he scored in 11 consecutive league games, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record for Manchester United.
The Blues have not yet made a move for Vardy and face a tough task persuading Leicester to sell in January.
