Chelsea v West Ham
English Premier League
Stamford Bridge – London, England
13 March 2010 – 15:00 GMT
Chelsea can go top of the English Premier League table as they host West Ham United on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea v West Ham Preview
Chelsea are currently second in the EPL table, two points behind Manchester United, but with a game in hand on the Red Devils. They are tied with Arsenal on points but also have a game in hand on the Gunners. West Ham United are three points above the relegation zone and in 16th place.
The home side will be without starting goalkeeper Petr Cech and back-up goalkeer Hilario. Ross Turnball will likely start in goal for Chelsea who has not played in the EPL this season and has only two appearances overall. Michael Essien, Ashley Cole, Richard Carvalho, and Bosingwa will are also unavailable for the Blues. West Ham does not have few injuries and will be at close to full strength for the match.
Chelsea will likely rest a few players with the second leg against Inter Milan in the Champions League next Tuesday. West Ham have only won win on the road and have a 0-2-3 record in their last five away matches. Chelsea have a 12-1-1 record at Stamford Bridge and a dominating +31 goal difference.
It shouldn’t be a close match but with Chelsea likely to rest a few players and Turnball making his first EPL start of the season, West Ham’s chances are better then expected. A win for Chelsea is the most likely outcome but a draw is a possibility.
