Premier League giants Chelsea seem to have made Middlesbrough striker Tuncay Sanli their top target for January as manager Luiz Felipe Scolari seems to be eager to sign a striker next month.
According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are ready to spend as much as £8 million to sign the Turkish international striker who arrived at Middlesbrough last year on a free transfer. Tuncay has been a revelation at Boro and has expressed his versatility to play on the wings too.
Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon though has continuously stressed that they would make no addition to their squad in January. But it seems that manager Scolari is keen to sign one striker so as to provide some back-up to Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba.
Tuncay Sanli has developed to one of the better strikers in the Premier League and is one of the crucial factors why Middlesbrough are in real contension of a UEFA Cup spot. Boro manager Gareth Southgate would certainly like to keep Tuncay for until the end of the season at least.
But can he hold on in front of Chelsea’s millions? And is he good enough for Chelsea?
