Chelsea are set to table a second offer of £26m for Everton defender, John Stones.
The Blues submitted a formal offer of 20 million pounds last week, which was immediately rejected by the Toffees, who are demanding a fee in the region of 30 million pounds.
It is believed that Jose Mourinho is keen to sign a centre back and Stones has been identified as the man to replace John Terry long term and partner Kurt Zouma at the heart of Mourinho’s defence, for years to come.
The Everton defender is an intelligent ball playing defender, who can play as a right sided centre back or a defensive full back and is exceptional in his reading of the game. Jose believes the talented England defender can improve a lot under his tutelage and grow into one of the best centre backs in the world.
Chelsea are keen to complete the deal before Sunday’s community shield game against Arsenal and are hoping their 26 million pound offer along with add ons will convince Kenwright and Martinez, who claimed that the player is not for sale at any price.
Stones is believed to be keen on the move and will relish the chance to work under Jose and play in the Champions league.
Despite their reluctance to sell, Everton have always sold for the right price and as far as Stones is considered, the transfer is a question of when and not if.
