Monaco shareholder Alessandro Proto has confirmed that he spoke to the Chelsea owner regarding Jose Mourinho’s transfer to Monaco.
The Monaco shareholder claimed that he met with the Russian billionaire in London and offered to buy Mourinho out of his contract but the Chelsea owner refused to accept his €50m offer and insisted on €100m.
Jose Mourinho is under severe pressure to deliver this season and his catastrophic start to the season has fuelled rumours that Mourinho could be sacked soon. Proto expressed his admiration for the Portuguese and was willing to take him to Monaco.
Proto claimed that Roman Abramovich is not keen to sack Mourinho just yet and asked for a sum of €100m for the Chelsea manager.
“We offered 50 million euros to have the coach immediately, but the request was 100 million euros and the figure seems exaggerated,” said Alessandro Proto.
Proto insisted that he is still “considering his proposal” to sign the Portuguese “as an investment” because “Mourinho is worth 100 million euros” because “he is the best coach in the world.”
Furthermore, the report from AS also states that there are three clubs (one from France, one from England and the other from US) willing to buy Mourinho out of his Chelsea contract if the situation arises.
