Chelsea, the Premier League leaders, are not expected to sign any new player in the remaining 48 hours of the January transfer window. However, the Blues could be involved in one or two outgoing transfers.

One of the players who could leave before Tuesday night is goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The Bosnian international is Conte’s second choice keeper at the club behind Thibaut Courtois. He is used only in cup games, and can expect to start only when the Belgian is not around through injury or suspension.

The 29-year-old is a reliable goalkeeper with loads of Premier League experience. The situation is not ideal for him, and he is hoping to leave this month in search of regular first-team football.

He is wanted by Bournemouth, but will only be sold if the Premier League leaders can find a replacement. Begovic said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

I have spoken with the boss – we are quite open about it, he knows I am desperate to play, and that’s all it is really. If he can make it happen for me he will. That is something that is going to be sorted out in the next couple of days.

I’m 29 – 30 in the summer – and feel fantastic and in great shape. It would be a waste not to play and show people what I can do.

Chelsea are actively looking to find a replacement within the next two days, and have launched a second bid of £4m for Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, wants Gordon to stay and sign a new deal. The Hoops are preparing a new contract for the keeper that will last until 2021.

The 34-year-old is the club’s first choice keeper, and has already featured 34 times this season. Chelsea have also lined up Espanyol’s Diego Lopez and Fernando Muslera of Galatasaray as other possible options.
