Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois has been linked with a move a move away from Stamford Bridge over the last few weeks.
Apparently the Belgian is unhappy with his relationship with the Chelsea goalkeeping coach and is ready to leave the club at the end of this season.
Chelsea have had a very poor season by their standards and Courtois himself has failed to live up to the expectations. The former Atletico Madrid star has received a lot of criticisms for his performances this season.
According to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, who also works for La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Courtois is set to be sold this summer. He claims that the new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has already given his permission for the Belgian to be sold.
Conte has apparently identified the Inter Milan keeper Samir Handanovic as Courtois’ replacement.
So far Giulianelli’s claims are acceptable. But he also claims that Courtois could be heading to Anfield this summer and that is quite frankly absurd.
Liverpool’s need for a keeper is no secret but they do not have the pulling power to land a world class player like Courtois. Plus if he was available, the likes of Real Madrid would pursue him and he could literally pick out the best clubs in the world.
Furthermore, Courtois has himself stated that he is 100% committed to Chelsea.
Courtois said: “I have a contract for three years, so I will say 100 per cent.”
“Rumours affect any club where things are going badly. People think the top players want to leave because they are not in the Champions League.”
Commenting on the PSG rumours, he said: “Me, I like playing in England. Paris is a very good club but I am happy at Chelsea.”
