Last month, German newspaper Sportbild reported that Chelsea were close to signing Abdul Rahman Baba from Augsburg. A deal worth €25m has been agreed between the two clubs, and the 21-year-old is expected join the Blues in the next few weeks.
The Ghana defender has a contract with the Bundesliga club till 2019, and Augsburg were desperate to keep him, but a big money move to the Premier League Champions is a huge opportunity which the defender simply couldn’t say not to.
According to reports from Ghana Soccernet, Baba is set to fly to London to undergo a medical shortly. Although Baba’s agent claimed that no agreement has taken place, despite a big offer from Chelsea, Ghana Soccernet believes, the deal will eventually be done.
The defender is expected to be in London within next few days to undergo a medical, and thereafter sign a contract with the Blues.
Chelsea are looking to sign a left-back, after the club allowed Filipe Luis to return back to Atletico Madrid in the summer. Ghana Soccernet are usually a reliable source and they seem pretty confident that the deal is as good as done.
