The Telegraph reported yesterday that Chelsea are plotting a shock move to land Tottenham midfielder Paulinho, who joined Tottenham for £17m from Corinthians last summer.
Several European heavy weights like Roma and AC Milan are plotting to land Paulinho to Italy, but Spurs are aware of Chelsea’s interest as well. And they might use it as an advantage to sign Chelsea’s striker Romelu Lukaku, their primary target.
Belgium newspaper Sportwereld feels that a swap deal between the two clubs is highly possible and that Lukaku could become the fourth Belgian for the Lilywhites.
Lukaku have enjoyed a decent season at Everton, where he scored 13 goals for the Toffees. Everton are keen to sign him permanently, but it seems unlikely they would be able to match his asking price.
Chelsea are demanding fee in the region of £25m for the striker. Tottenham therefore are keen to use this opportunity of Chelsea’s interest in Paulinho by offering a swap-deal to bring Lukaku.
The report suggest that Paulinho wants to talk to Chelsea to know about their interest, therefore a swap deal might happen in the summer.
