The report suggests that the player has agreed personal terms with the Stamford Bridge outfit and the French striker will undergo a medical for the London club during the weekend. The 27 year old comes in as an able replacement for Fernando Torres, the Spaniard who has now agreed to join Italian giants AC Milan on a two year loan deal.

Remy was earlier close to join Liverpool but failed his medical after the Merseyside giants had agreed on a £8m deal to sign the player. The dazzling striker had spent the last season on loan at Newcastle United and it was believed that the Magpies would make a move to make the deal permanent after impressive impact under manager Alan Pardew. Remy had also been spotted at the Emirates at the fag end of last season with speculations claiming that he could move to the Gunners.
