Chelsea can’t win half their matches under AVB

Castrol EDGE Performance data shows why Andre Villas-Boas is under such intense pressure ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Birmingham and a visit to Naples in the Champions League.  At present, he has the worst win ratio (50%) of all Roman Abramovich’s six appointments, meaning the Blues are no longer in contention for Premier League success.

It is interesting to note that a win ratio of 66.67% was not enough to save Avram Grant from Abramovich’s impatience, suggesting that Vilas-Boas’ time in charge may be limited.  Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho is reportedly still in touch with his former Chelsea players and a win ratio of 67.03% illustrates why many are calling for the self-proclaimed ‘special one’ to return to Stamford Bridge.

STURRIDGE CONSIDERS FUTURE

Daniel Sturridge is reportedly considering his future at Chelsea, having become unhappy by Andre Villas-Boas’ decision to play him in a wide role this season. However, Castrol EDGE Performance data shows that the Blues should battle to keep the England international, who has been more prolific than the rest of Chelsea’s misfiring strike force this season.

Despite playing on the wing, Sturridge averages a goal every 162 minutes in the league, which is far superior to Fernando Torres’ (599 minutes) and Didier Drogba’s (318 minutes).  Moreover, Chelsea’s problems this season are demonstrated by the fact that their recognsed strikers have scored a mere 16 league goals between them – six less than the Premier League’s top scorer Robin van Persie.
