Sami Khedira has been a transfer target for both Arsenal and Chelsea in the past summer transfer window. The German World Cup winner is reportedly unhappy at Real Madrid and has also fallen down the pecking order under manager Carlo Ancelotti. The 27 year old is also contemplating a move away from the Spanish capital after the club disagreed on proposals to increase his wages significantly.
Various British Media Outlets have claimed over the past few days that it will be a Chelsea vs Arsenal battle to land Khedira in the upcoming January transfer window. But reports from Italy suggest otherwise.
Yesterday, TMW, which is one of the most respectable sites in the country published an article claiming that Chelsea are preparing a pre agreement offer in January to sign Khedira on a free next summer. However, the story seems to have originated from English Media outlet London Evening Standard. Moreover, there are no such reports in Spanish tabloids regarding Chelsea’s impending move.
Today’s reports from Tuttosport however have mentioned that AC Milan are interested to sign Khedira. Club owner Sylvio Berlusconi will reportedly speak over a possibility to sign the midfielder with manager Filippo Inzaghi Vice President Adriano Galliani.
However, it has been mentioned that Khedira wants to sign a contract with a club that would pay his hefty wages. Milan believe they still have the strong appeal to compete with Arsenal and Chelsea but aren’t in such a position financially. Given Khedira’s wage demands, the Rossoneri might have to opt out in their pursuit of the midfielder.
