Spain national team manager Vicente del Bosque has revealed that Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has travelled with the Spain’s squad to face Euro qualifier with Belarus and international friendly with Germany, but whether he can play or not will be decided after he undergoes a medical today.
Chelsea striker Diego Costa, however, has not been selected for the two international matches. Del Bosque has claimed that Costa’s exclusion from the squad doesn’t indicate that he has to swallow his pride or Spain national team have shown any sign of weakness.
Costa returned to first team action for Chelsea against Liverpool on Saturday following his hamstring injury and scored the winning goal for the Blues at Anfield. Del Bosque says that he is happy with the progress on Costa’s fitness but still felt not to include him, mainly on precautionary grounds.
Del Bosque adds that he has no problems with Jose Mourinho and that it was agreed by both parties that using Costa wasn’t worth the risk.
As it stands, Fabregas will undergo a medical today. If he is passed fit, he will take part in the international games, else a replacement will be called immediately.
