Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is often criticised for his workrate and defensive contribution.

The Spanish international is famous as a player who has a lot of craft but is lacking in graft.

Due to the poor form of Serbian defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic, Chelsea have been overrun in the midfield plenty of times this season and Fabregas has come under a lot of scrutiny.

Many have called for a more industrious central midfield signing like Koke and Pogba in order to add more drive, tenacity and energy to the Chelsea midfield.

However a recent revelation from the EA Sports player performance Index, the official player rating index of the Premier League shows that Cesc Fabregas is one of the hardest working central midfielders in England.

The Chelsea star has covered 101.75 kms so far this season and only 6 other players in the league have worked harder than him.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool midfielder James Milner topped the charts. The likes of Aaron Ramsey and former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher were also on the list.

Fabregas has been a key player for Chelsea since joining them from Barcelona last season. The former Arsenal captain was instrumental in their title win last season after setting up numerous goals for Diego Costa.

It seems the Spaniard just like his compatriots Mata and Herrera has been unfairly criticised for his workrate and desire to press.

As opposed to the common notion that Fabregas is hugely responsible for Chelsea’s midfield struggles, it appears that despite his hardwork he has often been let down by his teammates and was left exposed by an out-of-form defensive midfielder.
