Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Portuguese right-back Aurelio Buta.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hoops want to strengthen their full-back positions before the new season begins, and Brandon Soppy is also on their wish list.

Celtic looked vulnerable at the back last season and will have to improve if they want to challenge Rangers for the league title next year.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to bring in the necessary defensive reinforcements before the window shuts, and the Royal Antwerp star could prove to be a quality long-term investment.

The 24-year-old  chipped in with five assists across all competitions for Antwerp last season.

He is versatile enough to operate as a right-sided winger and solid defensively.

Buta has a contract with Antwerp until 2022, and the Belgian outfit are under pressure to cash in on him this summer.

They will not want to lose a player on a free transfer next year, and Celtic will be looking to take advantage of his contract situation.

A move to Parkhead could be the ideal challenge at this stage of his career, and the Hoops will hope to snap him up for a reasonable fee in the coming weeks.
